About the event
Trevor Noah: What do you think people can do?
Greta Thunberg: I think right now, if I were to choose one thing everyone would do, it would be to inform yourself, to try to understand the situation and try to push for a political movement that doesn't exist, because the politics needed to fix this doesn't exist today.
Daily Show, September 2019
To help Climate Cocktail Clubbers find out about the kind of politics and policies we need to tackle climate change, we’ll have short talks…
- Michal Nachmany from the Grantham Research Institute, will cover some of the most successful climate policies internationally, based on her work to build Grantham's comprehensive database of global climate policy
- Mike Hemsley from the Committee on Climate Change will set out the current policy landscape in the UK
- Ed Gillespie, sustainability pioneer as founder of Futerra turned Extinction Rebellion activist will talk about why net zero by 2025 has to be the aim
- Adrienne Buller, policy director at Labour for a Green New Deal, will set out what a Green New Deal is and what role it can play in moving us towards a net zero economy
And there’ll be a room full of interactive things for you to wander around and – hopefully – wonder at.
There’ll be games, illustrations, posters and quizzes with our friends from the Climate Reality Leader, On Purpose and Possible communities on hand to talk through them.
Your ticket includes a free climate-themed cocktail or mocktail upon arrival and nibbles will be available.
